IUAA Outdoor Championships 2018

On 13th and 14th April 2018, we traveled to Mary Peter’s track for the IUAA Outdoor Championships 2018. Congratuations to Jessica Coyne in a superb effort to win the 3000m steeplechase. In the sprints Shona Lowe placed 7th in the 100m and 200m finals, meanwhile Benina Vaupel place 8th in the 200m final. Shannen Dawkins came second in the 400m hurdles in 64.20. In the 800m, Aoife Delargy came second and Aoife Mahony placed 7th. Aisling Kelly narrowly missed out on a medal in the 1500m with a fourth place finish. Anna Reddin and Niamh Moore placed fourth and fifth in the 3000m respectively. Niamh Moore also came 5th in the 5000m.

In the field events, Maria Carey came second in the triple jump with a leap of 11.76m. Grace Furlong was edged out of the medals by 5cm where she jumped 5.23m.

Michael Power and Evan Byrne were the highlights of the men’s team where they finished 2nd and 3rd in the 10,000m respectively. Conor O’Driscoll placed 7th in the 800m final and David Fox placed 7th in the 1500m final. Nathan Hayward narrowly missed out on a medal in the 300m steeplechase, with his 4th place finish.

Sam Healy came a fantastic second in the long jump with a leap of 6.99m. Michael Kenny retained his title from the indoor championships in the weight for distance throwing 8.79m. He also came 4th in the discus.
