UCC Ladies Win Intervarsity Cross Country Championships

The UCC ladies won their first Intervarsity Cross Country Championship in 20 years this afternoon, at Clongowes Wood College, Co. Kildare.

The ladies had three finishers in the top 10 overall, led by Sinead O’Connor (fourth), Orna Murray (fifth), and Niamh Allen (tenth). Jessica Coyne, Niamh Moore and Lucie Moreac filled out the rest of the team.

The last UCC team victory was in 1995, at Santry, led by Freda Davoren who won the race outright. She now coaches several of our middle-distance athletes.
