As it has for the past decades, the beautiful old campus of Maynooth University, Co. Kildare, played host to the relays.

The women’s race went off first. The ‘A’ team was Jessica Coyne, Sinead O’Connor, Orna Murray and Niamh Moore, running the 1 mile, 2 mile, 2 mile, and 1 mile legs in that order. They improved by 13 seconds over last year.

The men’s ‘A’ team was David Kavanagh, Eric Curran, Ben Thistlewood, John Durcan, and Kieran James, running the 1 mile, 2 mile, 3 mile, 2 mile, and 1 mile legs in that order. The men’s team also improved substantially from the year before, taking 17 seconds off their time.

A gallery of pictures from the relays is available at Jumping the gun’s Facebook page.

Upcoming races include the Inter-county cross country championships next weekend (Nov. 23), the National novice cross country championships (Dec. 7), and the CIT Nighttime Cross Country (Dec. 12).
